The Doors+Windows tool allows for the addition of visibility strips as is required by law in certain countries, and overall good practice to implement.
The Visibility strip can be added through the standard Window and Exterior Door interface as shown below.
By selecting the glazing panel in the left hand pane, a selection can be made as to what type of strip is to be added. It is possible to select several glazing panels at once and apply the Visibility strips. It is also possible to merge and un-merge these panels for the purposes of spreading a pattern consistently over the panels without continuity problems.
By selecting the Door panel in this instance, we can now select what type of Visibility strip we want to apply. We have a choice between a Generic Strip or to use a complex profile that we can create.
Let us look at the Generic Visibility strip first. We can assign a height to the horizontal centre of the Strip, as well as the actual height of the strip. We can also assign the Archicad Surface that will be displayed, in this case it is ‘Glass-Blue’.
Please note: the height is calculated from the Sill-height.
Next we will look at using a Complex profile.
By electing the Complex Profile option, you can select any of Archicad’s standard Complex Profiles or a created one. It is therefore possible to draw any logo or text as a Complex Profile.
We will create a Complex Profile for the purposes of this explanation that States ‘Visibility’ in text.
We can now select this in our Visibility strip settings.
This will be applied with the Surfaces as assigned in the Complex Profile
We can also assign a different Surface by unchecking the ‘Profiles use own surfaces’ checkbox and selecting the colour of our choosing with the desired outcome shown below.
Other Available Settings deal with mirroring, Anchor points, Repetition and adjusting the height above the Sill.
Mirror status allows for mirroring of the Profile.
The Anchor point can be adjusted.
The Repetition can be switched on or off and the distance between repeating profiles adjusted.
And finally, the Height above Sill is adjustable.
