When Live Edit is on, a property can be added in the same way as any other trait (with the add trait button ). The value can be set by selecting all values of that property and editing it the required value.
Alternatively, when Live Edit is off, the required property can be added to the list, set to the required value and set in the selected elements by clicking the inject button ().
There is an important difference in these two approaches – the former will modify a classification if necessary to ensure the property is attached before setting the correct value, whereas the latter will only set the property value in elements that already have that property (and classifications remain unchanged).
For example, property values are extracted from a selection of walls. From these properties, the fire rating is to be set to 1Hr and brick type to “Ambassador” to other walls:
a) Select the walls to extract property values from and click the extract button ();
b) Select the walls to have new property values, pick the property values to apply and click the inject button ().
This technique can greatly simplify the transfer of large selections of detailed property values to other elements.
