4.4.5 How to measure the geometry of specific elements

Some element types have unique geometric characteristics including:

• Zones (section 7.9)

• Openings (section Error: Reference source not found)

• Walls (section 7.11)

• Columns (section 7.14)

• Beams (section 7.17)

• Slabs (section 7.22)

• Roofs (section 7.24)

For example, Opening elements (doors, windows etc) provide the size of the reveals. In every case, prefix the required measurement with the relevant element type, e.g. for opening reveals:

Note that setout measurements of a roof, e.g. ridge/hip/valley length, rely on appropriate roof edge tagging in ARCHICAD.
