Introduction to Fitout

In this article we'll look at the basics of creating individually tailored Fitout solutions for your project.

This solution is especially effective where repetition is common, and also very useful to change numerous items simultaneously in several spaces at the same time.

The Basis of how the new Fitout functionality works is threefold:

Objects are placed and converted to Sets, and Sets that are placed and converted into Fitouts.

These are represented in the Library with the following Images:

 

The most crucial part of the new Fitout tool to understand is the new Clearance Area object that is placed with Archicad’s object tool.

It is located in the Fitout>Clearances folder in the Library(see below):

This allows a definition of how an object will interact with its surroundings.
We have eight options available to select from, as can be seen in the image below:

 
 

How these options are intended to be used:

• Above the Floor Free Standing  - such as a Dining Room Set or a Sofa
• Above the Floor against a wall -  such as a TV Unit, WC, Basin or a bookshelf
• Above the Floor in a Corner - such as a shower or a Floor Standing Lamp
• Below Ceiling Free Standing - such as a Ceiling Fan or Lighting
• Below Ceiling against a wall  - such as an HVAC unit or feature lighting
• Below Ceiling in a Corner  - such as an alarm detector or down-lighter
• Door circulation  - placed in doorway areas to ensure operability
• Window Treatment -  placed in window areas to ensure operability
