The Metadata tool offers powerful control over properties in Archicad.
The activation of the Metadata palette is under CI Tools>Metadata>Show Metadata palette.
This will bring up the palette for use with Elements in Archicad.
Primarily the palette allows you to edit Properties and Classifications across multiple Element simultaneously. This is different to Archicad Find & Select as editing multiple Elements will only edit the properties of one of the selected Element type.
Let us look at some examples:
We will select a wall and a slab simultaneously with the Live Edit toggle engaged.
The Properties will populate with all the Properties of the Elements, the properties in Black
exist across all the Properties of selected elements, while the ones in Blue do not exist across all Elements or are in fact different across the current selection.
To edit any of these we can simply click on the Custom Value button to the left of the Property.
Another important feature is that if we have two Elements selected of the same type and there are properties that are different, in this instance two walls with different values for combustibility the list will give us both values as a dropdown in blue. It will also indicate the number of selected items with each value, in this case one of each.
