Update 26/06/2024
A major upgrade for Coverings has now been released for Archicad 26 - this new update brings in several new features, detailed below, but before reading that, please see this important note about the Deprecated objects
Deprecated Library Objects:
With the large amount of changes to the Coverings objects, we have created new objects for the Updated ones, and have renamed the existing objects as Deprecated.
They are still fine to use, so you can continue using them in your existing projects, but we recommend that for any New coverings you place, you use the new objects.
There is no need to migrate your existing placed coverings to the new Elements right away, unless you need some of the new features in them.
To use any of the existing objects you have places as they are, simply hit the "Edit Settings" button, as shown below:
There are also more details about the changes in this recent Ci Tools Webinar:
Wall Coverings
Interface re-design and Building Materials:
As part of the latest release, we have incorporated Building Materials into Roof and Wall Coverings. This will allow for volumes and areas to be scheduled as you can with native Archicad elements.
At the same time, we have made some changes to the User Interface that have streamlined the settings significantly
In this image, the changes and grouping of functions in Wall Coverings can be seen. The deprecated settings are on the left and the new release settings are on the right.
The Building Material of each of these sub-elements is located within each sub-menu item, as is the line type in Plan, Elevation, and Section.
Of further importance is that the Building Materials and Surfaces can be applied to all the Trims and Claddings simultaneously by using the Uniform/Independent toggle button to the right of Building Materials and Surface Settings. You can also override Surfaces that are attached to Building Materials with the Surfaces Brush button.
Another important optimization is the ‘snapshot’ function. While editing in any of the sub-menus, you can activate the snapshot button shown below:
This will then ‘snapshot’ the part of the Covering that was being adjusted at the time of activation.
Roof Coverings:
