A new genre of objects, based on interactive polygon shape editing, is introduced in ARCHICAD 22. These objects provide a new level of flexibility to the design process.
For example, the Paving #1957 object in the Site/Landscaping folder allows you to draw a polygon-shaped area of paving, adjust the paving origin and direction, and add edge pavers to any edge of the polygon.
To use the interactive polygon editing functionality of these objects:
- In the object’s Settings dialog, choose the Shape option for Graphic Editing.
- Click OK to save the setting.
- Place the object in plan view.
A control will be displayed next to the object.
This control includes hotspots to:
- Change the main edit mode. Depending on the object, edit modes may include:
- Hide the palette.
- Polygon editing.
- Set edge types.
- Set orientation.
- Change the editing option.
Select an editing option, and use the moving hotspots on the polygon, to edit the polygon shape.
Polygon editing options include:
- Vertex control
- Move an existing vertex.
- Add a new vertex by moving an edge midpoint.
- Remove a vertex by moving it onto the previous or next (i.e. making the edge length zero).
- Edge control
- Move the endpoints of an edge.
- Change the edge shape to curved or straight by moving an edge midpoint.
- Edge Offset
- Offset all edges of a polygon by moving an edge endpoint.
- Offset a single edge by moving an edge midpoint.
- Move a Sub-Polygon (or hole)
- On selecting this option, a sub-polygon will be inserted if none exists.
- Move the sub-polygon to a new position.
- Remove the sub-polygon by dragging it outside the main polygon.
- Rotate a Sub-Polygon (or hole)
- Move the centre of rotation.
- Rotate the sub-polygon about its centre.
- Duplicate a Sub-Polygon (or hole)
- Move a sub-polygon to create a duplicate.
To set edge types:
- Select the Edge Type edit mode.
- Drag an Edge Type from the palette:
- Onto a polygon edge to set the type for a single edge.
- Onto a polygon vertex to set the type for all edges of the polygon.
