The Ci Tools Doors+Windows tool allow you to create preset sizings for your windows and doors, so you can easily resize your joinery and have it "snap" to the nearest allowed sizing that you setup.
This is great for when you're using a specific model of window/door, as you can just setup the sizes that are available for it in advance, and then anytime you modify the dimensions of the joinery item, they will automatically lock to the nearest preset size.
It can also be useful if you dimension things by brick coursing, or by any other units that aren't just the dimensions you use in Archicad.
Turning on and using Snap Sizes
Get started with them by going to Configuration in either the Window or Door object
Our Snap Sizes are found here in the "Size" setting. Opening that out via the flout menu to the right of it will show us the snap sizings available
The Top level items are the Height snaps, and the second level items are the Width. So in the screenshot above, we have hilighted the snap interval of 13 height units and 6.5c width units
From this menu, choose the sizing you want, and now this item will be in Snapping mode for sizes. This means that whenever you Resize the window or door, it will only ever go to the nearest available snap size interval.
In this example, the minimum width is 6c (1450mm) and each subsequent snap point is 0.5c or 120mm above that. So as you can see, if I resize the window to 1833, it snaps to 1810, if I resize to 1693 it snaps to 1690 etc...
Obviously you may not want to use the snaps that are setup by default, so you can also create your own
Setting up Snap Sizes
To setup your own Snap Sizes, go to Configuration - Snap Sizes
(note: what you see here depends on the snap sizes saved in your Style, so may not look exactly like the above)
Here we can see the snap size setup for Widths. The panel on the left allows you to autogenerate snap sizes, and the panel on the right shows the currently setup snap sizes
Focusing on the right panel, you can see there are 3 Columns: Code, Unit Width, and Default Panel Width
- Code lets us set the Code or identifier for that Snap width field. This could match a sizing available in a specific range or, as in the screenshot above, reflect the Brick Coursing interval
- Unit width defines the width of the snap point in whatever your currently set Archicad Units are (millimetres, in the case of the screenshot)
- Default Panel Width lets you also define the default width for Panels that would be added at this Snap sizing point
Using the series of radio buttons on the left, you can select the snap interval you want to change, and then adjust the Code, Unit Width, or Default Panel size
Using the 4 buttons below the selection will let you (1) move a snap Up, (2) move a snap Down, (3) Delete a snap point, and (4) Add a new snap
You can also use the autogenerate controls on the left to have the tool automatically create snap points at a specific interval. Just set (1) what you want the interval to be, (2) how many divisions inside each interval you want (if you don't want any, choose 1), (3) an offset from the minimum size if you want one, and (4) what the top and bottom sizes are for the range of snap points that will be created
When you have those set the way you want, hit the Generate button (5) to create your array of snap points (note, doing this will clear the list first, so you will lose any currently setup snap points)
Once you have generated your snap sizing array, you can further adjust each snap point manually as needed
