Model View Options
The Model View options allow for a choice between Legacy mode and the New advanced CI Doors and Windows Model View Options. (Referred to as MVO in this article).
If you have a Legacy file from a previous version of Archicad and you are happy with the display settings, you can keep the file in ‘Legacy’ mode. These can be set under:
Document>Model View >Model View Options
If you would like to have more control of the MVOs you can switch to ‘New’ mode, as seen below.
Model View
Once the ‘New’ Settings has been selected, the Greyed out Settings become available.
The Settings are split across four menus to the left:
- Model
- Plan View
- Minimal Space
- Visibility Strips
With Model View menu selected, the following can be set:
On the Left side, you have the ability to set the Opening Lines options and line types, and Arrows to Sliding Doors. Please note also that all doors can be set to Shut at the bottom of that pane, and gaps between door panels can be masked.
*NOTE: The door needs to be set to Use Model View Options in the Model Display Settings of the individual door’s CI Tools Door and Window Settings
On the Right hand pane, the Window Settings can be adjusted to reflect your personal preference.
The Windows can be shut in the Model and the Detail level of the Windows can be adjusted.

Let's view Some of the options available in the Drop-Down menus:
In the Door Leaf opening Line Drop down, the following options are available.
In the same way, there are four options available for the Arrows to Sliding Doors.
With the Windows, the following display options are available:
In the same way as doors, the arrows to Windows can be set:
Plan View
Under the Plan View Settings, the left pane allows for Settings to the Plan View Display of Doors while the right pane allows for Settings to the Windows.
On the Door side we can choose which Items are displayed in Plan View, such as:
- Reveal
- Jamb Liner
- Trims
- Exterior Sill
- Sill Bricks
and the frame can be selected from the options
The Door swing can be set to an arc or a line, the line-type and pen can also be set.
Arrows to sliding doors in Plan View can also be adjusted.
On the Window side, the opening angle or percentage can be set for:
- Hinged
- Pivot
- Bifold
- Sliders
and the Window panels can be set from the options, with the choice of an arc or a line for hinged windows, the line-type and pen can also be set.
Arrows to sliding windows in Plan View can also be adjusted.

Minimal Space
The Minimal Space Settings allows for the adjustment of Minimal Space display, in terms of:
- Line-type
- Pen
- Fill
- Fill Foreground Pen
- Fill Background Pen
Visibility Strips
There are also overarching Settings that control Visibility Strips. They are located under the Document>Model View Options>CI Tools Doors + Windows>Visibility Strips. Please see image below.
You have the option to select either:
- Hide Visibility strips - None Shown
- Show Bounding box - Only a bounding box shown
- Show wireframe - Wireframe of Strip is shown
- Show full detail - All detail is shown
Secondly, there are three options available that determine on which side of the glazing panel the Visibility strip is shown.
The options are:
- Exterior only - The Visibility strip is only shown on the side designated as outside
- Interior only - The Visibility strip is only shown on the side designated as inside
- Exterior and Interior - The Visibility strip is shown on both sides
Please note that these settings will also apply to any Schedules that are created of these Doors.
