The way in which cabinetry should display in plan view, will depend on the type of information you want to convey in that view.
For instance, you might want to show:
- Under-bench cabinets in detail, including door swings, drawers and vertical walls and partitions. Benchtop and wall-mounted cabinets as a dashed outline above. This could be used to show the dimensions of the under-bench cabinets, or to label under-bench units.
- Wall-mounted cabinets in detail, with the benchtop a filled polygon, and under-bench cabinetry as a dashed outline below. This could be used to show the dimensions of wall-mounted cabinets, or to label wall-mounted units.
- The benchtop as a filled polygon, with both under-bench cabinetry and wall-mounted cabinetry as dashed outlines. This could be used to indicate the spatial extent of the cabinetry while keeping the plan view relatively uncluttered.
The Model View Option settings provides control over how cabinets and benchtop will appear in plan views, depending on their height in relation to the cutting plane.
Cutting Plane Height
On the Plan View page, set the Cutting Plane Height relative to the current story level.
Cabinets will respond to the cutting plane height based on their position relative to the cutting plane. Each cabinet may be:
- Sliced through – the cutting place slices through the cabinet in this view.
- Wholly below the cutting plane.
- Wholly above the cutting plane.
Sliced-Through Cabinets
Cabinets that are sliced through by the Cutting Plane Height will display as cut elements in plan view.
If the Show Detail at Cutting Plane setting is On, Doors, drawer fronts, walls and vertical dividers that are sliced by the cutting plane will appear in detail, using section pens, fills and line types.
If the Show Detail at Cutting Plane setting is Off, a simplified view will be displayed.
Cabinets Below the Cutting Plane
Any cabinet that lies wholly beneath the cutting plane will display as a simple polygon.
If a cabinet has been tagged as Under Bench, …
… its outline will use the Hidden Detail pen and line type, ...
... as defined in the Model View Options > Ci Cabinets > Attributes settings.
Remove the unit partition lines using the Model View Options control Unit Partitions on Outline Views.
Cabinets Above the Cutting Plane
Cabinets that lie wholly above the cutting plane will display as a simple outline, ...
... using the Above Cutting Plane line type and pen as defined in the Model View Options > Ci Cabinets > Attributes settings.
Reflected Ceiling Plan
In the Model View Options > Ci Cabinets > Options settings, a plan view may be tagged as a Reflected Ceiling Plan.
In this case, elements wholly below the cutting plane will respond as though they were wholly above the cutting plane, and vice versa.
Unit Partitions
Cabinets that lie either wholly above or wholly below the cutting plane, may display or hide unit partitions in plan-view.
Cabinets will always display partitions that are sliced through by the floor plan cutting plane.
Hide Unit Partitions
Hide unit partitions if you want a clean, simple plan view.
Note that the cabinet ends will display as open, unless you add an end panel.
Show Unit Partitions
Show unit partitions to identify the extent of adjacent units in plan-view.
- Cabinets that are wholly above the cutting plane will display any unit partitions that extend to the cabinet base.
- Cabinets that are wholly below the cutting plane will display any unit partitions that extend to the cabinet top.
Set Doors & Drawers Open or Shut
For cabinets that are sliced by the cutting plane, doors and drawers may be set open or shut in plan-view.
Set the Angle for hinged modules (e.g. doors) and the Margin for sliding modules (e.g. drawers).
To display doors and/or drawers fully closed in plan view, set the Angle or Margin to zero.
