Before you start using the Ci Tools in Archicad 28, it's important to know about some changes to the way that Libraries work in Archicad as of this version
Please follow these steps without assuming that the way that the Library Manager worked in the past still applies.
Most of these changes revolve around the new "Libpack" system of libraries - also known as the Global Libraries - and how they work.
Here are the main things you need to know when using Libpacks:
- When using Libpacks, you can't select a Folder for the Library Manager to load. Multiple Libpacks can be selected and loaded, but loading the folder, as is possible with folders of LCFs, will not load the Libpacks in that folder
- Archicad 28 will NOT automatically load Libpacks into your Archicad Project EVEN IF they are in the Archicad Library 28 folder
- Due to the above, when you create a new project, you will need to add in the Ci Tools Libpacks to your library manager before you can use the Ci Tools
- It is not good practice to load Libpacks and LCF’s that contain the same Library Parts into a Project. It is recommended that either the LCF or the Libpack is loaded, but not both. This will create duplicate Library Parts and is detrimental to the ‘health’ of your Project.
With those rules out of the way, let's look at the process of Loading the Libpacks or LCF’s into a Project:
- Open the Library Manager from the File menu
- This will bring up the Library Manager Dialog. Here we can see which Libpacks have been loaded into the Project
- Next we will select the ‘Add’ button located at the bottom of the Dialog
- This will allow us to browse and locate the LCF or Libpack that we wish to load. We can now Browse to the Folder containing the files we want to load.
- The CI Tools LCFs are located in the directory: Graphisoft/Archicad 28/Archicad Library 28/CI Tools Library 28
-
- And the Ci Tools Libpacks are located in the Directory: Graphisoft/Archicad 28/CI Tools Library Packages
- Please note that, as mentioned earlier, if you are loading Libpacks, you have to select ALL the files you want to load and click on open - you can't just add the folder.
Once you have added either the Libpacks or the LCFs, just Hit Ok to load those libraries and close the Library Manager
