If, when trying to install a CI Tool or an update, a large red cross appears next to the name of the Tool, this means the installation has failed.
The installation of the CI Tools or their updates may fail if something is blocking communication between the Ci Tools Installer app and our server, or is interrupting the installation process.
Below are some known causes of this issue with suggestions for fixing them:
Account Permissions
If you are running the CI Tools Installer on a user account with limited file permissions, the CI Tools Installer will not be able to write or delete any files resulting in the installation failing. You will need to speak to your IT specialist to install or update the CI Tools add-ons for you.
File/Folder Permissions
In some cases, read and write permissions for the install folders, or the CI Tools files may be incorrect. This will also prevent the CI Tools Installer app from being able to overwrite any existing files.
Please check that the following folders, as well as any files within, have the correct permissions:
Windows:
C:\Program Files\Graphisoft\Archicad ##\
...\Graphisoft\Archicad ##\Add-Ons\CI Tools
...\Graphisoft\Archicad ##\Archicad Library ##\CI Tools Library ##
where ## stands for the version number of Archicad.
macOS:
/Applications/Graphisoft/Archicad ##/
.../Graphisoft/Archicad ##/Add-Ons/CI Tools
.../Graphisoft/Archicad ##/Archicad Library ##/CI Tools Library ##
where ## stands for the version number of Archicad
Right-click (or ctrl + click) on the folder in the Finder window and select 'Get Info' from the context menu.
At the bottom of the window that appears will be a section labelled 'Sharing & Permissions'. The 'Privilege' listed for all entries should be 'Read & Write'.
If one or more of these entries does not say 'Read & Write', click the padlock icon and enter your password. You will then be able to change the permissions settings by clicking on the entry you want to change and selecting the correct 'Privilege' level.
Antivirus settings
Disable any installed Antivirus software and try the install again.
If the install succeeds, create an exception for the CI Tools Installer app in your Antivirus' settings to ensure that your Antivirus software does not continue to block the CI Tools Installer app. The steps required to do this will vary depending on the software being used, refer to Developer instructions or consult an IT specialist.
Firewall Settings
Make sure that the CI Tools Installer app is not being blocked by your Firewall. You will need to speak to your IT specialist to verify this for you.
If you need help with any of the items above, we strongly recommend consulting an IT specialist.
